Father, thank You for Your own generosity toward me.
Life and breath – in You I have all my being. May I know more and more what it means that with You, even if I have nothing, I have everything; and apart from You, even if I have everything, I have nothing.
Because beyond breath and sustenance for each day, You have given Your Son. When I was wicked and broken, You were loving and whole. And so You gave. You gave that I might have life – full life – and that I might know the expansive breadth and length, the staggering heights and depths, of Your love for me.
And now, as You inhabit me and transform me, make me generous as You are generous. Nothing I have is truly mine; everything is Yours. Teach me to hold it loosely and to invest it lavishly as You lead, trusting that in You I have everything.
Amen.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
